RIP Most Interesting Man In The World

Don’t worry, he’s not technically dead.

Both the character and actor are alive and I assume well. But sadly, we won’t get to see the Most Interesting Man In The World anymore. Dos Equis is ‘retiring’ the character and campaign. One of the more popular ad campaigns in the past decade, The Most Interesting Man In The World out grew the ads themselves, becoming the subject of many memes and quoted regularly in Facebook statuses.

The final commercial has “The Man” making his way to a rocket in which he will embark on a one way trip to Mars. The commercial will only air once (on TV…nothing dies once posted on the internet) and then….who knows. Don’t know how Dos Equis will top this…especially if this last add is a sign of things to come. The last commercial in my opinion sucked. Their is only one quote in the commercial “His only regret was not knowing what it was like to feel regret”. Sure it’s a good one, but the quotes were just as famous as the character. Without them, the commercial didn’t have the same feel. But what I think was the worst infraction…why would someone take a one way ticket to Mars? What’s the point of that? How is the Most Interesting Man In The World supposed to maintain that title if he’s not on the world. He’s maintains the title on Mars, but that’s only because he’ll be the only person there.

If you look on YouTube, you can see a variety of farewell videos. I didn’t have time to shoot a farewell video so I’ll just say this. Adios Amigo…stay thirsty my friend!
